A People Partner is not closed in observance of Independence Day.
Why?
Because in 1776, not all individuals were free as the Declaration of Independence declared us to be.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
It took nearly 100 years following this claim “that all men are created equal” for that to actually be true.
The freedom of ALL people was granted through the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. It took another two years after that for ALL people to become free.
Independence Day absolved the allegiance from the United Colonies to the British Crown.
Today is the anniversary of America’s birth, not freedom for all.
